FOUR HUNDRED TONS MISSING. . m (Per United Press Association.) f AUCKLAND, Nov. 1. \ At the Police Court to-day, in connection with the robbery of sugar in transit from the Chelsea Refinery, Charles Lilliwell, foreman in charge of the wharf delivery of the N.Z. Express Co., and Francis George Forbett, a lighterman, were charged with the theft of sugar valued at .£62 3s sd, and were remancred, bail £l5O each'being allowed. Edwin George Thompson, grocer, Valentine Townsend, a carter, Charles Jclin Anderson, a carter, and Edward F. Bowden, a carter, were charged with receiving the stolen sugar, and were * remanded on bail, Thompson in £l5O, and the others £IOO each. The alleged thefts form part of a total of 400 tons of sugar said to ‘ be missing. The police is stated to be on the track of other parties. .
