NEW SCHOOL BUILDINGS
SHORTAGE OF MONEY. (Bv Telegraph—Special to “Herald”). August 12. The Minister of Education informed a deputation which asked for the rebuilding ol an old school, that the Minister of Finance has intimated that he does not think it possible to raise all the monies required for school buildings. “This,” said the Hon. J. C. Parr, '■' is the position we find ourselves in. There are so many claims on us. I can ■understand Mr Massey's difficulty, but I hope it will not be found necessary to cut down the annual appropriation of three-quarters of a million for school buildings, though owing to the ruinous cost of building, the effective value of this sum is onlv A4CO;OCO.
