FEILDING B REPS. (3) V, WANGANUI B. REPS. (1). A match of more than passing interest was played at Victoria Park, Peilding, last Saturday afternoon between the B representative teams of Peilding and Wanganui. The ground was in a very bad condition, owing to the heavy rain of Friday night and Saturday morning, but a fast and exciting game resulted,. The Feilding team proved too good for the visitors, who were defending most of the game, and the forward play of the former team was most noticeable, and, considering the state of the ground, was of a high standard. From a line passing run in which all the forwards participated, Patterson, following up fast, beat the back, and with a line turn of speed found the net. Peilding 1, Wanganui nil. The rest of the first spell found Feilding attacking, and several good shots missed the posts by inches. Just before half time Wanganui looked dangerous. but Thompson, in goal, saved on two occasions with excellent judgment. The second spell found Wanganui penned in their 25 and Patterson, after some good combined play, again netted. Feilding 2, Wanganui nil. Prom the resulting bully Wanganui commenced to attack, and the game was becoming a fine exhibition of defensive tactics by both teams, Cave (Wanganui) being noticeable for some fine defence. Wanganui were not to be denied, and after a good attack by the forwards, Brown netted. Peilding 2, Wanganui 1. For the rest of the game Feilding attacked and the ball seldom went past the Peilding 25, the local goal-keeper finding his post a sinecure. After some good forward work, in which Brown, Boswell, and Patterson combined Avell, the last-mentioned scored his third goal from a scramble in the circle. Feilding attacked hotly for the remainder of the spell, and the game ended: Peilding 3, Wanganui 1.
