200-MILE CIRCUIT ROUND LONDON. LONDON, July 24. Bookmakers will be permitted to operate at Hendon for to-morrow’s Air Derby, a two hundred-mile circuit around London. Hawker is favourite. Hinkler is next, and Raymond is third favourite, but probably he will be a non-start-er owing to a slight accident. There will be sixteen competitors. RACE SPOILT BY HANDICAPPING. LONDON, July 24. Great crowds witnessed the scare and finish of the aerial Derby. Points of vantage along the course were also thronged. particularly Epsom Downs. The weather was unsettled. The wind was strong, but the visibility was good. There were fifteen starters. The limit men, including Hammersley and Hinckler, were on Baby Avros. They had such a long start that they completed the first circuit before the highest-power-ed machines started. F. Courtney, on a 300 h.p. Martyuside, won the Derby, averaging 1534 miles hourly. The handicap resulted;—Hammersloy 1, Hinckler 2, Courtney 3. Hammersloy won the 1919 handicap.
