FORMER GERMAN STEAMERS
DISPOSAL BY UNITED STATUS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received January 30, 1.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, January 29. Mr Baker protests against the sale of former German steamers which have been included in the War Department's army transport reserve. As a result the Shipping Board has deferred action on bids for these vessels, pending con-f-ulation with the War Department.
