Clemenceau's visits to London, suggested that Britain might suitably acknowledge the people's indebtedness to Marshal Tocli by a gift equal to that voted to Field-Marshal Haig, but riemenceau, on the ground that such gifts were not customary in Prance, declined. Air Lloyd George told Marshal Foch of his offer, and the latter replied that in the event of the gift being made lie would distribute tire money among the French war relief organisations.
