CUP FOE SENIOE CADETS

A handsome challenge cup has been conated bv Mr Eric Eiddiford, J.P.. of Orongorongo, for competition among the Senior Cadets of the Dominion. As 15 is considered that physical training constitutes the most valuable feature of military training from the citizen point of view* it has been decided, to present the cup to the Cadet unit attaining the highest standard of physical training efficiency in the Dominion. The conditions for the competition have been drawn up as follow; Districts will forward to General Headquarters, not later that the Ist November annually, the name of the Cadet unit selected for this cup. The Director of Military Training and the Chief Instructor of Physical Training will then visit and inspect the four units selected and decide upon the most efficient for the purpose of making the award.

Every Cadet on the strength of the unit, no matter what service, will be examined in physical training by the inspecting officer. The desire is not to witness a small team from the unit performing first-class training, but to ensure that all members of a unit are receiving satisfactory instruction in the subject. All officers and n.c.o.’s of tbe unit examined will be required to give instruction in certain physical training exorcises during the visit of inspection. The physical training will include recreational games. \ Marks will be awarded as under: Officers and n.c.o.’s instructions and orders, 10; smartness of appearance, 10; alacrity of movement, 10; general physical training knowledge, 10; general discipline and silence, 10; attendance (one mark will be deducted for every Cadet absent during the inspection of physical training up to the full total of 20 marks), 20.
