About 4 o’clock this morning a destructive fir© occurred, at Wall send, the Brunner Council Chambers, Post Office, Roberts and Leach’s store, and Williams’ butcher shop being entirely destroyed. ‘The flames had a good hold when discovered in Roberts and Leach’s store, which contained kerosene and inflammable material. There was no water supply, and as the Taylorvills bridge is down residents on the other side are unable to get across without delay.. A few departmental papers were saved from the Council Chambers, but nothing was saved elsewhere. There was no insurance.
