THE EMIGRATION QUESTION,
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. TOKIO, January 26. Viscount Uchida, in a speech in the House of .Peers, said the Government was prohibiting immigration to Mexico in accordance with the understanding with the United States reached in 1908. The prohibition of the emigration of Japanese women to the United States is in the interests of Japan, not the United States.
THE AMERICAN RESERVATIONS. WASHINGTON, January 36. Senator Lodge announced that the compromise conference has reached a virtual agreement on Clause Ten. It is now felt that many of the difficulties attendant on effecting a compromise will quickly disappear, since the major problems are solved.
