WASHINGTON, January 22. The Army Transport Service is advised that the Canadian steamer Lady Lauxier is towing the Powhatan to Halifax.. Vessels standing by wirelessed that the transport has sunk to the level of ihe water in the compartments. 'Die bulkheads haw been shored up. Heavy seas are still preventing transhipment of the passengers.

NEW YORK, January 24. A wireless received at Halifax from tlie Powhatan states that the town-line parted and the transport is adrift. The Northern Pacific landed the passengers rescued from the Powhatan and brought the last contingent of the American Expeditionary Force.
