U.S. COAL STRIKE.
OVER A MILLION IDLE IN CHICAGO. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. NEW YORK, December 7. More than a million are rendered idle at Chicago by the coal strike. Besides this 15,000 trains have been eliminated monthly. STEP TOWARDS SETTLEMENT. WASHINGTON, December 7. The miners have accepted President Wilson’s proposal to settle the strike on the basis of practically the previous offer of a 14 per cent increase.
