AMUSEMENTS & MEETINGS.

EVERYBODY'S THEATER A SPLENDID PICTURE. “The Rainbow Trail” opened last evening at Everybody’s Theatre to a crowded, audience. Tho story is a continuation of “Eiders of the Purple Sage,” recently shown at this theatre, and brings William Faninm back in tho role of the feared range rider, Lassiter. ■ It is a strong Western tale packed with love and heart interest, and affords an unusual number of real thrills. It is ono of the b:st Farnum productions ever shown here. The scenes are largely laid in the Grand Canyon of Arizona, and from a scenic standpoint the picture probably excels anything of tho sort yet undertaken by photoplay producers. The scenery is not the whole thing' in this picture, however, as many scenes in ‘The Rainbow Trail” rise to great heights of dramatic intensity. The supporting films are well selected, and intending patrons are advised to attend early tonight, THE GRAND. “THE PRICE OF A GOOD TIME," Lois V’cbcr’s Jewel production, “The Price of a Good Time,” which was screened last, night at Tho Grand for the first time, is based on a story, entitled “Tho Whim,” by Marion Orth, and advances the sound impeachment that in the environment of the home rests the influences that predominate in a young person's future life. To scare away this point she introduces two girls, one from a happy home and the other from the most contrasting surroundings. Her picture deals largely with the latter girl, who after a taste for luxury tha lasts one short week, is unable to bear the return ito her sordid life, and suffer the stinging suspicion of ,her mother and brother. The picture resolves itself into a human story, well told and entertaining to the last. Scats may be reserved at Upton’s. During the Wanganui Rowing Club's opening of the season ceremony on Saturday afternoon enjoyable- vocal, items were contributed by Madame Briggs, who sang “Roses of Picardy” and ‘ The Midshipman,” and Mr T. B. Slipper also sang “The Longshoreman.” Accompaniments were played by Miss Ethel Aa i»prwarota . «*mM « Mad tmj «s&)» -awwa*»s».

GARRISON RAM) .MUNICIPAL roNCKUT. The conceit, given by (lie Garrison Baud at flic IJaeeeonrse yesterday afternoon was a very sueee.-sful function. There was a. very large at tendance <n: the public present. and Mr Ryve.sAVebb had all arrangements satisfactorily made for the Land's convenience. Tho playing throughout was good indeed, the rendering of the s-leetions “Rienzi” and “Macbeth’’ showing that this fine conihinalion. with three months' rehearsal uniter so skilful a conductor as Mr Partington, will again worthily represent Wanganui on the contest platform at Dunedin next Mareh.
