GONVILLE YOUNG PEOPLE’S CLUB. The recently-formed Gonville Young People’s Club held a very successful musical evening the other night, Mr Grigg presiding, and about 30 members being present.” The club holds weekly meetings in the Baptist Church, when some interesting debates take place. DRUIDS’ HALL DANCE. The usual Saturday .night dance will be held in the Druids’ Hall to-night, at 8 o’clock. A good time is promised to all patrons. WALTZING COMPETITION. An interesting waltzing competition for anyone who had not previously won a prize was held in conjunction with the Wanganui East Dancing Assembly on Wednesday nigbt. Twelve entered, and the finalists were Mr and Miss Robinson, Mr Palmer and Miss Eales, Mr Adamson and Miss Hutchinson, Mr Williams and Mrs Turner. Results were: Mr Robinson, 200 points, Ist; Mr Bulmer and Mr Adamson, 192 points each, 2nd. In the extra waltzing, Mr Bulmer was awarded the second prize. The judges were Messrs W. E. McCarthy, W. Storey, and E. Bricler, jnn. Limelight effects were produced by Mr Williams. Q FRANK AMOORE’S SONG RECITAL. On Monday week Mr Frank Amoore, Australian dramatic lyric tenor, will visit Wanganui for one nigbt only, and give a varied programme of selecitons from grand opera, oratorio, modern and old British-ballads. Concerning him, ' the late Professor Marshall Hall Ormond, professor at the Conservatorium of Music, Melbourne University, said: “Mr Amoore has not only a good tenor voice, but a knowledge of voice production which is very exceptional, and right on the lines I am trying to introduce at the Conservatorium. ” The , visiting artist will be assisted by Mrs P. Frederic, L.A.R., L.T.C.L., a birlliant solo .pianist and accompanist; Mr W. C. Simpler, English concertina artist; I and Miss Violet Price, A-T.C.L., j "iolinist, in duets with Mr Shepley. | The box plan will be at H .1. Jones and Sons.■

An organ recital will be given in Christ Church, on Wednesday evening ;icxt, November 26th, by IVJr T. C. \Vvbb. Solos and anthems will be mg, and some famous pieces will be played on the organ, including the ’“Cuckoo and Nightingale,” ‘‘Concerto” by Handel, and Meyerbeer’s “Coronation March.”
