A MYSTERIOUS TRAGEDY.

Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, November 21. A mysterious tragedy is reported at Googee. John Meagher, a man of independent means, and formerly a racehorse owner in Melbourne, states that he left his wife in bed at 3 o’clock yesterday. He returned at 4 o’clock and found his wife in bed with her head battered. She had much jewellery, but it was not touched. _ There is no apparent motive for the crime. The husband has been arrested and charged with the murder. Bail was refused.
