The Government has decided, in accordance with a statement made by the Prime Minister, that the circumstances of the detention of Donald Mclntosh, a returned soldier, all Ka.ritanc camp and at ScaclifC Mental Hospital, and his complaint as to his treatment while under detention, shall be inquired into hv a Stipendiary Magistrate under the Commissions of' Inquiry Act. As Dr. Triiby Kins', medical superintendent of ■the Scacliff Mental Hospital, is absent from New Zealand, it will not bo possible to hold the inquiry before January next, when it is expected ho will have returned.
