£6,000-000 COIL DEAL.

GIANT CONTRACT SEALED. Mr H. Seymour Berry, -who is associated with Mr D. E. Llewellyn in a ,£6,000,000 coal “deal” in South Wales, says the transaction also includes steel and shipping interests. The contract, he says, has been signed, sealed, and delivered. When the principals feel disposed to disclose the details, it will probably be found that one firm only is concerned. Messrs Llewellyn and Berry are already connoted with briquette manufacturing firms as well as shipping and haulage companies. Mr D. E, Llewellyn is a native of Abordarc, where he started with his father iii a comparatively small undertaking, the Bwlfa Colliery. Then he went to the United States to study pining conditions. Retaining to South Wales, he launched Wales, he launched out, first with what is known as shallow coal sea ms, and so no undertaking seemed to .hig for him and his close friend, Mr Berry, to tackle. Mr Berry, like Mr Llewellyn, is a comparatively young man. He lives at Merthyr, and succeeded to the business of his father, an estate agent, who was also for some years political agent for the late Lord Ehondda when the latter was Mr D. A. Thomas. The son developed Ms interests in concerns with which Lord Ehondda was connected and devoted himself to company finance. His most prominent effort was directed to the founding of a technical school at Merthyr in memory of his father. Towards this he offered J20;000.
