AMUSEMENTS & MEETINGS.
CONSTANCE TALMADGB IN “GOOD-NIGHT, PAUL,” AT HIS MAJESTY’S TO-NIGHT. Another successful stage farcecomedy has been selected as a vehicle for Constance, Talmadge ia “Good Nght Paul,” to be shown at His Majesty’s Theatre to-night, and the story is a close relation to a French farce, although without moral shock. The plot is an angle of the “lend me you wife” motive, and as suggested leads to most humorous situations. A rich uncle turning up unexpectedly to find his nephew unmarried, the nephew “borrows” his partner’s wife for the day, when uncle takes a violent fancy to the place and decides to stay a month. The strenuous efforts on the part of the three conspirators to keep him from learning the truth only gets them into worse and more delicate situations, and the play works up to a clever climax, is full of laughs, and moves with speed throughout. Norman Kerry and Harrison Ford play the luckless partners in a convincing manner, and John Stepplying gives a good characterisation of the French uncle from Quebec. Other attractive items on the bill are the “Topical Budget,” “Bairnsfatber’s Cartoons,” and “Eastern Texts,” Pathe interest. Such an attractive programme should- ensure bumper houses.
ORGAN RECITAL. An organ recital will be given in Christ Church hy Mr T. C. Webb on Wednesday evening next, 26th inst.
