Lady Henry Somerset’s Warning. The noted temperance worker in the United Kingdom, and friend of Frances E. Willard, has written an article for the “Weekly Despatch,” of London, in August last, in the course of which she says:— “If prohibition came in it would merely become a question of evading the law, and for the people to form that habit would be a bad thing for the country. This campaign for prohibition is not dealing honestly with one of the most solemn questions affecting the - whole future of our national life, because everyone who looks seriously at the present conditions knows prohibition to be impossible.” Prohibition Defeated in Canada. WAR RESTRICTIONS CURTAILED. OTTAWA, June 18. _ By 34 votes to 24 the Dominion Senate to-day limited the Federal prohibition of intoxicating liquors to the war period. The bill has also passed the House of Commons. It was originally applicable to the war period and twelve months afterwards. The bill deals with the importation, manufacture, and inter-provincial trade in intoxicants. All regulations concerning sale are under provincial. jurisdiction.— Reuter. Yet Prohibitionists have faked up statements that Prohibition is in existence in Canada. Prohibitionists’ assertions concerning Canada are not true. There is no Prohibition in Canada as we understand Prohibition in New Zealand. The Provinces of Alberta and British Columbia do not allow THE MAMIE AQTURE OE LIQUOR, but residents who can afford it can obtain abundant supplies from other provinces and store them in their homes. This creates class hatred as Prohibition is a class law. Alberta and British Columbia are something like no-license areas in New Zealand, and they are cultivating all the evils, hypocrisy and criminality that develop under that social and political abomination called Prohibition. You caffnot believe Frohibitionists—they are fanatical and extremists. Save your country from the evils of Prohibition by voting for . - NATIONAL CONTINUANCE.
