THE HAWKE’S BAY SEAT.

(Per United Press Association.V EASTINGS, November 19. Mr C. H. Chapman, official Labour candidate for Hawke’s Bay, addressed a large meeting of electors in Hastings last night. In the course of his address Mr Chapman contended that neither the Reform nor the Liberal leaders had done anything to meet the changed conditions arising out of the war. Their Profiteering Bill had gone astray. The Labour r&rfy had two main objectives, one of which, was free education from the kindergarten to the University, and the other that Labour should have a greater share of the wealth produced by labour. He advocated the establishment of a State Bank and other State enterprises.

PROTESTS AGAINST DATE. GISBORNE, ’November 19. Gisborne retailers have resolutioned the Premier protesting strongly against, the elections in the third week in December, prejudicing the Christmas trade.
