N.Z. FARMERS’ CO-OPERATIVE DISRTTBUTING CO., LTD. ~7 A RECORD OF REMARKABLE PROGRESS. Co-operation for public service and not competition for private gain is the principle upon which the N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Coj, Ltd., have built up their great business, which is freely admitted to be one of the most successful cooperative enterprises in New Zealand to-day. 'The head office of the Arm is in the Dominion Farmers’ Institute, Buildings, Feathcrston Street, Wellington, while the Company has branches at Wanganui, xVlarton, Fcilding, Master ton, Taihape, Levin, and ITuntorville. This Company is a straight-out farmers’ concern, owned and controlled by farmers, and run in the interest of farmers. Their 2,500 satisfied shareholders are all farmers, among whom arc to be found the biggest as well as the smallest producers. Some idea of the satisfaction prevailing amongst shareholders can be gathered when it is stated that the Company has paid individual farmers as much as £7B 15s 4d bonus for one year’s trading. The Company has grown to such an extent that it is now landing its stocks from the world’s leading manufacturers, and is thus able to give farmers a guarantee of price and quality. THE COMPANY’S ACTIVITIES. The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Company, Ltd., cater for.every conceivable branch of the fanners’ business. They are wool, skm, hide and tallow brokers, stock auctioneers, grain, produce and general insurance agents. SHEADING MACHINERY. The Company are agents for the famous Lister sheering plants, either 2, 3 or 4-staud, and the Lister shearing engines, stationary, on sledge, or on truck. These machines are so wellknown that comment on them is unnecessary. FARM MANURES. The Company specialises in manure#, and stock only those, that have proved successful. There is no speculation in buying “Co-Op.” manures, as the Company’s specialists know exactly what to scud to each individual farmer, with the result that every bag sent out gives (the maximum results. They supply grain,, potato, turnips, rap& and mangel manure, in addition to baKic super and blood and bone super. These manure# are guaranteed to have all the essentials for producing bumper crop*.

GRASS SEEDS. The company carries a large stock of the new season’s seeds of the best quality and highest germination, including cocksfoot, ryegraes (perennial, Italian, and Western Wolths), white clover, crested dogstail, meadow foxtail, chewings fescue, prairie, timothy, alsyke, cowgrass, trefoil, and red clover. GRATAE Oats, ryecom, horse beans, maize, barley, fowl wheat, and seed potatoes are also stocked by this progressive form. Among the last-named may be mentioned Arran Chief, Beauty of Hebron (pink), British Queen, and Up-to-date. For the orebardiat, the company supplies Blyth’s “Blue Dell” arsenate of lead and "Blue Bell” lime sulphur, which, after ten years’ practical tests, commands the largest trade in Australia and New Zealand as a high-claes spraying material for destroying insect pests. In this regard it may be mentioned that the "Co-Op.” make a speciality of catering for orchardiste, and quote special prices for Lime Sulphur, Blacfe Leaf 40, Bluestonc, etc.

HUPMOBILIJ CARS. The company are agents for the famous Hupmobile motor-cars, winch for reliability and comfort have earned for themselves a reputation second to none. They are also agents for the worldfamed "Clincher” Cross tyre, which pos* eesses a remarkable gripping power, enabling it to be used with safety on surfaces where other tyros arc dangerous.

OTHER AGENCIES. Other agencies held by the firm are “Yallo” Powder Sheep Dips, “Co-op salt licks, Reid and Gray’s agricultural implements, “Utility” engines, Separators, Price and Oo.s celebrated engines, Restar disinfectants, Co.-Op. oil canvas riding coats, and canvas goods generally. The Company are direct importers on a large scale of Ceylon and China teas, and as they eliminate the middleman they can give exceptionally good value in this particular line. , , . , The Company’s local business, under the management of Mr G. W. Frier, is expanding at such a rate that the firm has in course of construction a threestoreyed brick warehouse in Ridgway Street to house its merchandise department. In the meantime, they have a temporary store in the Avenue, where, the£ can supply customers with all requirements.
