The weather was very wet and the going soft for the Ashhurst races. There was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £20,360, against £18,859 last meeting. Results:— Hack Hurdles—3 Zeus (R. Pervolo ran off. Fohangina Handicap —s Jean Laddo (A. Reed) 1, 2 Birkenvale (A. Oliver) 2, 4 Trentlram Dose 3. Also ran: 1 Matatua,.3 Lady General, 7 Ahika, 6 Gold Problem. Won easily by two lengths. Time, 1.16. Flying Hack Handicap—s Sir Fanciful (A. Oliver) 1, 2 Parorangi (J. Olsen) 2, 4 Russet (J. Garment) 3., Also ran: 8 Vance, 11 Trombone, 10 Namur, 13 Merry Andrew, 1 Kyoto, 3 Makere, 12 Restful, 14 War Baby, 6 Tunatan, 9 Conziska, 7 Miss Land, 15 Sweet Rest. Won by a neck. Time, 1.181-5.
