ACCIDENT TO COLLIER

(Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, November 18. The collier Karori, while entering the harbour to-day from Newcastle, touched on a sandbank. She is berthed, but is reported to be making water fast. FURTHER DETAILS. DUNEDIN, November 18. Regarding the mishap to the Karori it is reported that while navigating between Quarantine and Goat Islands with a strong flood tide the vessel sheered towards the Quarantine touching the bottom. After the vessel, berthed it was discovered she was making water fast in. No. 2 tank amidships of the engine-room and stoke-hold, putting out the' fires. Soundings are being taken. The full extent of the damage will be unknown till the cargo has been discharged, Active steps are being taken to cope with the inflow of water.
