A MONCf tlic exhibits on the Show grounds was that of the New' Zealand Refrigerating Co,, Ltd., which as usual attracted attention. This Company, which is representA ed in the North Island by the Imlay Works situated at Wanganui, made an effective display of Tinned Meats, Neatsfoot "Oil, and their well known ‘‘Eclipse” Fertilizers/ The Tinned Meat exhibit under the well known G.M.C. brand formed a conspicuous feature, and the cleanliness and all round attractiveness of the goods was evidence of the great care the manufacturing of this famous brand of Preserved Meats. The Tinned Tongues, which are a particular speciality, find their way to England, Australia, South Africa, and South America, besides being on the market throughout New Zealand. ■ • Neatsfoot Oil, which is a, product of the Company, was also shown, and this compares more than favourably with any lather on the market, and commands a steady sale. The feature of the exhibit, however, is the various samples of “Eclipse” Fertilizer, which are manufactured a,t Imlay, and which find their way into practically every district in the North Island. All the various Mixings exhibited for Turnip, Rape, Crain, Crass, Potato, Mangel, and Top Dressing, together with corresponding Mixings containing Carbonate lof Lime/ which are known as “Eclipse” Basic Mixings, are shown. These Fertilizers are of high analysis, and so manufactured as to ran freely through the drill. They are sent out in bags of twenty to the ton, which make for easy and expeditious handling. “Eclipse” Fertilizers have been on the market in the South Island for many years, but have only been available in the Niorth Island for the last three years since the Imlay Works started, and the unprecedented demand for “Eclipse” Fertilizers in the North Island is evidence of the universal satisfaction they give to faimers^both as regards the high standard of quality, and the efficient, mechanical method of mixing, which renders them so easily worked through the drill. Quite a feature in these sales has been the ever growing demand for Top Dressing Fertilizers, which have been supplied in big quantities to practically every district in the North Island up as- far as Auckland. The manufacture of these “Eclipse” Fertilizers is based on an experience of the requirements of the soil collected during years of experiment and practical experience. The Company employs in its Analytical Department highly qualified chemists, whose services are always available to farmers to analyse samples of soil, and this work is done free of charge, full particulars tof which can be obtained from the Company in Wanganui on. application. The New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Limited, owns five Works in the South Island, viz., at Islington (Christchurch), Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru and Picton (MarlBorough), and the latest addition is the recently built Works at Imlay (Wanganui). These' Works are situated on the Wanganui River, are built as the fruit of experience of many years of the Meat Freezing Industry, and the whole business of Meat' Freezing, and its attendant subsidiary industries of Wool . Scouring, Pelt Curing, Preserving, Tallow r and Oleo making, and Fertilizer Mixing, are carried out under the most miodern and improved conditions. No effort has been spared to make these Works the most efficient and up-to-date in New Zealand, and the enterprise pf tire Company has been well justified in the quantity of Stock treated for the last three seasons, which, with the subsidiary industries abpve mentioned, mean much to the farmers, besides giving for remunerative, employment to hundreds of employees, and the indirect employment of many others.
