AUCKLAND, November 15, Mr Massey states that he has received a cable stating that several important alterations will have to he made in the vessel chosen as the most suitable for the New Zealand training ship. The Dominion will have to bear the cost of the alterations. Though in receipt of no definite information, he expects she is a vessel of about 3000 tons. The Premier also said that a cruiser to take the place of the Philomel, until we are able to take charge of a vessel of the Canterbury type, may arrive in May or June next. He expressed the opinion that when the Canterbnry comes ,this temporary vessel will probably be kept on this station as part of the British fleet in New Zealand waters.
