AUSTRALIAN WHEAT SCANDAL.

The Wheat Operations Royal Commission continues to excite considerable interest. An accountant, in the course of his evidence, said that the total loss on wheat and damage to wheat while in the hands of the State Wheat Office amounted to £2, 389,000. He also said that the holders of 1916-17 wheat had already been overpaid to the extent of .£608,000.
