QUEENSLAND (16) v. NEW ZEALAND (13). Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. BRISBANE, July 5. There was fine weather and a large attendance at the League football match. The New Zealand team was as follows:—McCarthy, McGregor, Davidson, Ifwerson, Cloke, Mitchell, Stewart, Eukutai, Waddell, Tanered, Williams, Somers,' and Walters. The Queensland team was as follows;—Fowin, Broadfoot, McCosh, McGuire, Paten, Thorgood, Thomason, Potter, O’Donnell, Moren, Richards, Johnson, Olsen. The opening play was characterised by roughness. The game throughout was very fast. New Zealand won the toss. Mitchell intercepted a pass and scored a try, which Ifwerson goaled. Queensland scored a try from' a good bit of passing work, and the try was converted. Then Cloke got the ball a.way from the scrum, and crossed the line, but the kick at goal failed. At half-time the scores were: New Zealand 8, Queensland 5. In the second spell, Queensland pressed vigorously and secured two tries, of which the second was converted. Cloke scored a try by a clever bit of work, Ifwerson goaling and equalising the tallies. Near time, Queensland got across again, but the try was not converted. The final scores were: Queensland 16, New Zealand 13.
