A TEACHERS RIGHTS.

AN INTERESTING CASE. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 6. Reserved judgment has been given by Judge Stringer in the recent action in connection with the 1918 teachers’ graded list. Plaintiff, a school teacher of Mangere, applied for a writ of mandamus, compelling the school inspectors of the Auckland Education district, and as such the grading officers of the district, and the Director of Education, to amend the 1918 list for the Dominion by restoring two marks, of which 'the plaintiff was deprived last year. The plaintiff had successfully appealed to the District Grading Appeal Board, hut the Board’s finding had not been given effect to. The judge granted a mandamus directing the defendant (Dr J. W. Anderson) ot act in terms of the first part of the motion. Plaintiff, he said, was also entitled to costs, some portion of which was caused by quite unnecessary obstacles which were thrown in the way of plaintiff’s solicitors in endeavouring to ascertain the facts necessary to enable them to advise the plaintiff as to his legal rights. He would he allowed twenty guineas and disbursements, 'to be paid by the defendant (Dr Anderson), but would make no order with regard to the costs of the other defendants.
