Time, 1.15 1-5. Juvenile Handicap—Lucid 1, Nursing Sister 2, Olynthus 3. Scratched; Sycorax. Won by a head. Time, 1.1 3-5. Hawke*’ Bay Stakes.—Affectation 1, Taunaha 2, Hetana 3. Scratched: Almoner, Golden Orozier, Amythas, Whakahawea. Rose Wreath, Bonny Briar, Solace, and Canowindra. Won by two lengths. Time, 1.201-5, Advices to hand from Riccarton credit Gloaming with galloping with his old brilliancy, and the crack is expected to extend bis winning record when the C.J.C. meeting is underweigh this month. News from Sydney credits Biplane with training on very satisfactorily, and should nothing unforeseen occur there seems every prospect of the son of Comedy King again being seen under silk at an early date.
