' FORTNIGHTLY MEUTNQ. The usual fortnightly meeting of. tin Borough Council was held last Mghl. In the absence of the Mayor, Cr. Sigley occupied the chair. Other oonnotiloEf present were; Crs. McCaul, Slipper, Barnett, Thom peon, Gower, Liffitoa, Bwtii, Luifocd, and Har knees. REPORTS. Committee reports ware dealt widl ee * follow TRAMWAYS. The Committee reported as follows:—• Re license for power.—We beg to reoommwnd that the license for power to Mr Svenaon be transfeAt?d to Mr O. JThompson. That power up to 5 h-p, comprised in the temporary license now held by Messrs Graham and Son be transferred to Messrs Bused 1 and Bignell for use for the erection, of the baalding at the corner of Maria Place and Victoria Avenue. Be tramway pass fa* District Maternity Nurse.—We recommend that this be granted. Be motor overhead waggon.—Wa ii*n mend that the Engineer be empowered , to purchase a suitable motor, aad that the tower portion be built at the tramway depot, the whole cost not to exceed X4M). Be superannuation.—The Committee recommend that the Engineer be instructed to bring down a repent as to the beet scheme of superannuation for the tramway employees, and also on tha matter of the payment of a special allowance to married men with large familiar—Adopted. RESERVES, The Committee reported as lufcWl Re tenancy of bouse and land, Tfn Belt Hoed.—The Committee baa agMed to a termination of the tenancy of this property on 31st Last., and that the matter of arranging for letting be left to the chairman and town clerk. Be municipal dwellings.—The ComnriMoa recommend that the Engineer make a sabdivisioonl plan of the laid formerly , leased to the Hogg estate for the consideration of the Con*oil, and that the matter of building further dwellings ha deferred until the debentures at punmvh in band ate disposed of. Re IsAtoa Street sites.—We redtanthend that the ’ Engineer be authorised to confer With the chairman of the Gonville Town Board with authority to in tot view the chairman of the Harbour Board trttk a view to obtaining sufficient silt from the river bank to spread over the section*, and that th* same he afterwards sealed Jk by spreading remnants of haystotte from borough reserves. Re laud near Guyton Street overbridge.—That this be cnoted to the Beautifying Society to deal with, and that the planting be under the iqwvision of the Borough Gardener.—■ Adopted. COEBEBPOKDEHCS. Correspondence wan dealt with m lows:DRAINAGE LOAN—A letter was W calved from the Borough Saikntrt advicing that the Ohuncil could not raise by special order the proposed loan of MDOO for the purpose cf making advance* to ratepayers desirous of connecting their premises with the sewerage system. Such a proposal would have to be eabmitted to the ratepayers and a poU taken on it in the ordinary way—Bpfcwl to Finance Committee.
