SOLDIERS’ COMFORTS, Letters continue to come from soldiers expressing appreciation of tho coinlorls forwarded by the Wanganui sub-centre of the i\.Z. branch of the British Red Cross Society and Order of St. John. The following extracts are from letters received by the lion, secretary, Mrs E. H. Suistod, during the past week. W. T. Morton: "I think it was very kind of you to .send such a lovely parcel of cigaivttcs and tobacco. Tiny arrived in perfect condition and were muct appro via led.” Sapper James E. Lewis: “It is difficult to express haw the gifts were appreciated, as there is a sentiment attached to receiving them that is beyond words.” Bombardier 11. Omerod: “I thought I would like to write and say how 1 appreciated the gifts.” Chaplain Capf. Greene, inter alia, says: “We arc forwarding a list showing the distribution of-Red Cross and gift goods. It might be mentioned that some of the units shown in the list were organised during the latter part of the year, whereas others have been disbanded. This fact will explain some of the units receiving only a few cases. Distribution of gifts as always made pro rata of tho effective strength of the units concerned, but gifts to indvidual units are forwarded as addressed.” Miss Dora Murch; “Thank you all so much for the lovely gifts. On behalf of the soldiers I thank you. and myself for the privilege of distributing.” Lance-Corporal C. E. Morshead, “Would you kindly convey my sincere thanks for the gifts of clothing, soap, cigarettes, etc. The above are very useful and much appreciated.”
