BALLOT APPEALS.

WANGANUI SITTINGS CONCLUDED

In addition to t*ho cases published yesterday, the following appeals ’nave heen decided by the First Wellington Military Service Board at its sitting in Wanganui:

Samuel John P. Brown, motor lorry driver. Mangamalm, appealed on the grounds of undue , hardship. Appellant and his brother are drivers of motor vehicles running between Wanganui and Mangamaliu.—The Board decided that appellant should be granted leave till June 5.

In the case of Pte. William Glasgow, a slaughterman for tfif past five weeks, who was on leave from camp and who asked for further leave, the Board made no recommendation.

The appeal of Timothy Harnett, who did not appear, was dismissed. David Allen, engineer was granted leave sine die, provided he remains in his present employment. The ease of Eeliert Wm. Bull, builder. was adjourned unti Ithe next sitting.

Leave was a'owed appellants as follows:—Thomas Wm. Naisbitt, carpenter, till June sth; John James, farm hand, to June sth; George McDowell, to June sth; Alfred Smith, motor driver, to Juno oth; James Edwin Marsholl, school teacher, Ohakuno, till June sth ; Montgomery Sydney Davis, stock agent, Wanganui, till June'2sth; Henry William Simpson (who is in hospital), till July 16; Tnomas William Askew, apprentice fitter,’Wanganui East, till May 21 ; Andrew McSkimming, tailor, Wanganui, till July 16. The appeals of Herbert John Archer, hotelkeeper, Mangamahu, and Alfred Wood, lamplighter, Wanganui, werp adjourned till a fortnight hence. Arthur Bentley Sharpe, bookbinder, Wanganui, appealed on the grounds that he was tbe sole support of his widowed mother. After hearing the evidence, the Board adjourned the case till the next sittings, so as to enable more information to be gathered concerning the appellant.
