FIREMEN SENT TO GAOL.
THEFTS FROM SHIP’S CARGO. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 2. Four firemen on an overseas steamer were sentenced to twelve months at the Police Court this morning on charges of stealing thirty clocks and thirty pairs of scisaorS from the cargo of a'vessel. Chief Detcctivq Boddam said the agents of overseas vessels repeatedly reported these thefts, and he asked fob the maximum penalty as a deterrent.
