AMUSEMENTS AND MEETINGS

EVERYBODY'S. Seldom, if ever, has the World Film Company produced a better class of picture than their latest release, "A Woman's Power," screened at Everybody's yesterday. This company has presented many excellent screen artists, and their new star, Douglas McLean, can be classed as equal to their best. Another star feature, "The Mating," contains no leas than three star artists —namely, Bessie Barriscale, Enid Markey, and Cleo RidgVey. "The Military Sports at Masterton" deeerve a special word of praise, whikt the "Gaumonfc Graphic." comprises the latest European animated news. A fine scenic film and a hilarious comedy, "Their Wedding Day," comprised the supports. HIS MAJESTY'S. "THE STRONGER LOVE." His Majesty's was well-attended last night to witness the first screening of "The Stronger Love," the fine Morosco nlay. Thunder Mountain, where 'live the Rutherfords and the Servisses, is the scene of the drama, and "t is \\»ildly picturesque, the photography being splendid. Vivian Martin is dainty and demure as the heroine, and her wondrous mop of curls is much in evidence. Jack Livingstone is a manly and handsome hero, and the plot is really original. There are quaint touches of humour in the portions of the play dealing with the smugglers and the. "revenooers," and the dance in the school-house is very homely and realistic. The Triangle-Keystone comedy, "His Busted Trust," is <a picture not to be missed ; whilst the latest "Topical Budget" is most interesting.

BTLLIE BURKE. IN' "GLORIA'S ROMANCE." Miss Billie Burke will make her second screen appearance in Wanganui on Monday next, at His Majesty's Theatre in "Gloria's Romance," which was written specially for her by Mr and Mrs Rupert "Hughes. It is anticipated in "Gloria's Romance" the radiant "Billie" will fully sustain the popularity she attained in "Peggy." The romance is not a string of ill-con-nected sensational episodes stnmq together anyhow, but an ably-written story of a lovely girl's youth, womanhood, and mating. It showed in 4000 theatres in the United States, and was the genuine surprise of the year, creating a fashion and a craze unlike anything else that has ever happened. There is a notable Triangle play on the same programme culled "Somewhere in F ranee," or "The Vampire Spy." This is based on a story by Richard Harding Davis, one of the ablest of American war correspondents, and features Louise Glaum. Box plans for the three nights' season are available at Upton's Music Warehouse, the Avenue and seats may be reserved in advance for any evening.
