APPRECIATIVE.
TO THE KDITOK. Sir, —I have been spending a holiday in your splendid little city tor a few days, and have been much impressed with' the evident signs of progress and prosperity on all sides. But what 1 wish to refer to is the magnificent sendoff extended to the boys who left for camp this afternoon. Genuine wellwishes seemed the dominant note of the proceedings throughout, and the send-off compares more than favourably with what I have seen in other parts. Also, allow me to congratulate the members of the Wanganui Garrison Band on the fine music provided eu route to the train. It is usual at such functions for a band to lead, but never have I listened to such splendid march music as was rendered by 'his famous band this afternoon. I simply mention this to let the members know that their efforts are appreciated. With the best good wishes for your up-to-date citv—-I am, etc., J. SHIELDS, New South Wales. Wanganui.
