AUSTRIA PRESSING FOR PEACE.
Received April 13, 9.10 a.m. ROME, April 12. According to Vatican reports, Austria is pressing for peace. POPULAR UNREST GROWING. Received April 13, 9.10 a.m. AMSTERDAM, April 12. General Von Schleyer has been appointed interim War Minister, succeeding Krobatkin. The Kranz trial disclosures are causing popular unrest. There is also indignation and discontent in financial circles. When the Hungarian Parliament re-assembles it will discuss the trial, also suffrage reform. The Vossiche Zeitung's Vienna correspondent states that Austria's political atmosphere has been created by past absolutism, and needs a thorough cleansing.
