AMUSEMENTS AND MEETINGS

THE NORWOODS. The Norwoods opened their farewell season at the Opera House on Saturday, when the attendance was large. After a short address on the value of hypnotic influence a dozen young men were induced to come up on the stage, and speedily they succumbed to the mystic influence- They next set out to rob an imaginary bee hive and the smht of the dozen disentangling equally imaginary bees from their clothing made the audience hilarious. Thence on, the, fun was fast and furious, every turn keeping the audience in roars of laughter. A young man in a cataleptic state with the body supported by two chairs, supported four of ids companions who stood on him. The Kaiser’s crippled army was a turn which took very well, and exceptionally clever was the demonstration of mental telepathy, in which Miss Ruth Hamilton walked among the audience, finding; articles and carrying out telepathic suggestions with unerring accuracy. The Norwoods will again be at the Opera House to-night, when a special attraction will lie a minstrel turn. To-morrow afternoon Professor Norwood will walk about the streets. Any person he speaks to and who can produce a Red Cross art union ticket will be rewarded with 10s. THE GRAND THEATRE. There is no blighter personality on the screen to-day than Marguerite Clark, and “Little Lady Eileen.” in which she appears at the Grand tonight, is the sort of character to suit the actress, for il gives her all the chances she requires to display her ability. It is a natural and fascinating story of a tender-hearted Irish girl who delights in fairy romances. She is not born’ to take things seriously, and oven when lovers come along she takes them as the jjift of the fairies and very nearly wrecks her life by her impetuosity and desire to carry out what she believes to be fairy commands. In every scene Miss Clark is delightful. A splendid supporting programme includes another big star olrn, “The I‘rice of Happiness,” a Topical war him, “On Home Leave,” Paramount Travels in Jamaica, and a comedy cartoon.
