KAISER’S BIRTHDAY.
HIS PEOPLE WILL STICK TO HIM TO THE END. “THE MIGHT OF THE GERMAN SWORD.” Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received January 29, 2.30 p.m. AMSTERDAM, January 28. German papers are featuring the Kaiser’s birthday, and emphasise that Germany will follow the Kaiser through thick and thiu until the end of the war. The Kaiser has received addresses from all parts of the Empire. Replying to that of the Berlin Academy of Science, he said he knew that Germany was ready to sacrifice her blood and treasure to secure a German victory, which was onlv obtainable by the might of the German swordThe Kaiser has pardoned a large number of convicted sailors, soldiers, and civilians. He spent his birthday at the headquarters on the Eastern front with the Kaiserin, Emperor Carl, Count Hollweg, Zimmerman, and Hindeuburg. At a luncheon Emperor Carl, in toasting the Kaiser, declared that the successes of their allied armies inspired him with confidence- regarding the future operations. The Kaiser, responding, said that Austro-Germany, with their allies, will fight for a peace in which the bonds of friendship will bo hardened by blood and iron, characterised by equal strength and loyalty in the labours of peace time.
