Since the recent rains there has been a perceptible growth of grass in various parts of the county (says the Ashburton Guardian), and the fields are beginning to lose their burnt-up appearance. A farmer stated that the turnip crops are also making excellent growth, and with a few more showers there should be a plentiful supply of feed. Late potato crops have made a good recovery, but the nioisture has done more harm than good to early varieties, which are nortf sending out a second growth.
