Two prisoners at Mt. Eden, (Auckland), Albert McGruer, serving a sentence for fifteen years, and A. J. W. Eoberteon, serving a life sentence for fatally shooting a girl at Christchurch six or seven years ago, escaped from’a ouarry in which several prisoners were at work yesterday afternoon. They ran towards Newmarket in full view of the public. They ran down the railway line, and the warders found them hiding in some scrub several hundred yards down the line, and they were recaptured without resistance.
