By “ACHILLES.” In answer to a query I may state that the first New Zealand Cup in which a first and second dividend was .paid was that won by Tortulla in 1901, in which year Alellwood ran second. The intimation that Air D. G. Greenwood intends to dispose of the majority of his commissioned team of racehorses will be learned with surprise. Air Greenwood has decided to sell Bimeter, Nones, Greenstreet,. Thames, and Tyne. WANGANUI TROTTING CLUB. In view of the fact that the Wanganui Trotting Club is offering such good prize money for its meeting on the 23rd and 26th of February, it is not surprising to learn that owners of trotters and pacers in all parts of the Dominion are interesting themselves in the gathering. From the many inquiries made by outside owners it is' safe to say that the nominations, which are due on Saturday, the -3rd February, will be the best ever received by the club. The Cup is worth £2OO and the big money the second day £l5O, so that every inducement is held out to those owning top-notch trotters to race jtheir horses at the meeting. In addition, the stake money in the other events is on a liberal scale, and big fields should be the order.
