A representative deputation from local authorities and medical bodies urged Lord Rhondda to legislate to prevent the unqualified trotting of venereal diseases, and to suppress quack advertisements. Lord Rhondda said he realised the burning nature of the question, and regarded it as one of the most urgent. Legislation would probably be introduced early giving effect to the recommendations of the Royal Commission. It was essential that publicity should be given to the grave dangers of the scourge, and free and secret treatment provided.
