WOOL, SKIN, HIDE, AND TALLOW SALE. Messrs Johnston and Co. report as follows : We held our usual monthly sal© on W’edneSday, 20th lust., to a poor attendance of buyers. Competition was fairly keen, and most lines were sold under the hammer, the remainder being disposed of afterwards at satisfactory prices. Skins showed an advance of to }d per lb, while other lines were at a par with last sales rates. Ltd., report:— The usual four weekly .sales were held last Wednesday to an average -attendance of tuiyers. Out catalogue comprised 31 bales and £3 bags of wool, 2200 sheep skins, 3 casks and 48 tins tallow and 658 hides and calf skins. Compel tion was well sustained, especially for sheepskins and .hides. We offered only crutchings and last season’s oddments, all new clips being kept for the November sale at Wellington. Crutchings had to be withdrawn, mostly at auction, but very satisfactory clearances were made by private treaty. We quote;— Wool: Good crutchings 10-jd to 11 Jd ; medium 9Jd to lOd; seedy crutching to 7id; stragglers fleece crossbred 9sd to 12Jd per lb; dead inferior dead 7d; seedy fleece to 6Jd.
