The workmen at Walsh Island have given a fortnight’s notice of intention to strike owing to the Government’s slowness in awarding deferred holiday pay. The Island is manufacturing munitions, and the strike will cause great inconvenience and delay. BRISBANE ENGINEERS’ DEMANDS. BRISBANE. October 22. A (Compulsory conference is called for next Friday in connection with the decision of the Brisbane branches of the Federated Master Engineers’ Association and Federated Seamen’s Union to strike for improved wages and working conditions. MINERS RESUME. SYDNEY. October 22. The Pelawamain agd Hepburn men have resumed.
