I TENDERS FOR BUILDINGS TO BE CALLED NEXT WEEK. ' PRESERVING PLANT. TO EE INSTALLED. The directors of the Christchurch Meat Freezing Company ate not lotting the grass grow under their feet. They are pushing bn the preliminaries as fast as possible, in the hope and expectation that tne tvorks will bo in operation in time to r the 1916-17 season. Tenders have already been accepted for the erection of a jetty, 800 feet in length, Avhich is to be constructed from the Averts cut info deep water in the river, where lighters Avill take the produce direct from the works to the Home boats in the river or roadstead. Messrs McLean and Co., of Amkfand, who Avere associated with the Otira Tunnel, arc the successful tenderers for the construction of the jetty. The company’s architect has the plans well in hand, add it is anticipated that tenders will be called next week for the erection of the buildings. The construction of a railway siding, connecting with the Caatleolifl Railway Company’s line/ will ho taken in hand immediately. The siding will he 80 cha ns in length, and there .will be a double line of rails into the Avbrks. The line is required at once to enable material to bo conA’cycd to the site of the buildiags. The directors have decided to include a preserving plant in the works, which will bb absolutely self-contained.
