ROYAL PICTURES. To-night, owing to the Opera House being otherwise engaged, the Royal Pictures will be shpwn at the Empress Theatre in Eidgway Street, and the same location will be the rule for the week. A great feature of the new programme wilT be “Sons of the Sea,” a great naval patriotic film of 2000 ft, in which the “handy man” is shown at work in all the multifarious duties which service both afloat and ashore demands of him. Supporting this scries there will also be a particularly choice lot of films, including that remarkable sea story, “The Cruise of the Hell Ship.” “Bathing in New York,' a picture showing 12,000 people “splashing in the briny,” and also giving a glimpse of the sights of Coney Island, that great amusement resort of New Yorkers, is another item of particular interest. “The Little Hobo” is a Selig drama which attracts its quota of admirers, while “Love and Gasolene” is one of those funniest of funny comedies for which the Keystone Coy. is so famous. Other pictures will also he shown, completing a tip-top programme. On AVednesday next. No. 9 instalment of “Lucille Love” will be screened. EMPRESS THEATRE. Boxing films are always popular, and on Wednesday night, at the Empress, patrons of tho fistic art will have the opportunity of seeing a 2900 feet filming of the Ritchie-Rivcrs fight at San Francisco for tho light-weight Championship of the world. This picture will be shown ,at the Empress Day sessions at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m.. 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and also at 9.15 p.m. in the evening. JULIUS KNIGHT’S FAREWELL. “A ROYAL DIVORCE” AND' “MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE.” At the Opera House to-morrow night Juliusv Knight will be presented by the J. C. Williamson Limited management in a revival of tho world-famous military dramatic spectacle, “A Royal Divorce,” and on Wednesday evening Mr Knight will make hie farewell appearance here, prior to his departure for Kuropo, in a special revival of “Monsieur Beaucaire.” | In both productions Mr Knight will be I supported by a powerful 'company of over I 70 artists, including the brilliant young ! London actress, Miss Irene Brown, who j will appear as tho Empress Josephine in “A Royal Divorce” and as Lady Mary Carlyle in “Monsieur Ueaucairc.” There has been a large demand fer seats for both pieces, but positions are still available, and may be selected at H. I. Jonot and Son’s. It would indeed be a hard matter to select a drama with the same demands upon the public as “A Royal Divorce.” for it is a well-known fact that with each of its successive revivals its popularity has increased, and during tho present tour it has broken every known record. Now scenery and effects were recently made for the thrilling ' battle tableaux which depict “The Battle of Waterloo,” “Tho Burning of Moscow” and “The Rock at St. Helena,. Tho scenery has already arrived in the charge of a large staff of mechanics and electricians.
