THURSDAY COMPETITIONS. YESTERDAY'S GAMES.

Although the weather was threatening afternoon the rain fortunately held off until Just on the close of tho games in tiio Thursday compeliiion.

Tho ladies’ match, Old Girls versus W anganui, resulted in a comfortable win for Wanganui, the scores being ;?•—l. The referees were Messrs Tavlor and A. Williams.

The, early men’s match was that between Federate and Chemists, and the issue was never in doubt Federal were !wo goals un at half-time, and in the second half their forward comhinnfion enabled them to score five more goals to thei ropprmonls’ one. Cameron A. ’Williams (2), and McDowell (2) scored for the winners, and Callaghan for the losers. Messrs F, C ower and A. Marl is refereed. The F. and T. v. Phoenix encounter was a- very willing one from the commencement to no side. Soon after commencing a Phoenix rush proved successful. Ilmen scoring, hut, P. and T. immediately evened up. Not long afterwards, P. and T, again scored, and at half-time lee score was 2 —l in their favour. Although Phoenix wore almost cnnti-uaPy on the attraek in the second half, the defence was very strong, and it was not until within two minutes of lime that Ilmen amiin found tho goal.
