Mrs Pethick Lawrence explained that she left the Women’s’ Political Union because Mrs Pankhurst could not brook a rival. The Women’s Union completely altered its plans* during Mrs Law rence’s absence in America, and found it necessary, in view of the militancy, to invest the control of finance in the hands of a sole leader directing the movement from Paris. MRS. PANKHURST RE-ARRESTED. Received July 9. 8.55 a.m. LONDON, July 8. Mrs Pankhurst resumed duties at the headquarters, Kingsway, but was immediately re-arrested. ‘ . DASTARDLY PLOT FRUSTRATED. The watchman discovered them placing large bombs against the building, and captured one, but the other escaped, SUFFRAGETTES PUNISHED. Received July 9. 11.45 a.m. LONDON, July 8. Grenville Drew has been sentenced to two months’ imprisonment for publishing a suffragette paper. Hall and found guilty of conspiracy. and sentenced to three months. Armes was found not guilty, and was discharged. Hall and Roe at the outset wore ordered to the cells for shouting and throwing a book at tho judge.
