The first busine.-s was a disenssion of the relation.diip of the Society to the State, which was taken in committee. Dr. Trnhy Hint; spoke at considerable length. Later, Dr. Valentino gave the Society an assurance that the position as between the Society and tho department should remain unalterable until the next annual conference. He also said that in future the Health Department would communicate only with i Plunket Society centres, not wiin its branches. The following remit from Wanganui was agreed to, on the motion of Miss Campbell: “Nurses must pav their own training fee at Karitane and Harris Hospital, and if they hold thu position for two years the training fee will be refunded to them at the end ct that time.”
