WANGANUI AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the committee of the -Wanganui Agricultural Association was held yesterday afternoon, the president, Mr 11. V. Hammond occupying the .chair. There was a very large attendance of members. NEW MEMBERS.—The following were elected members of the Association : Miss O’Kogan, Miss Cruickshank. LIBRARY.—Mr James Grant presented a very comprehensive list of hooks for the proposed Association Library. The list enclosed about oil standard works and the estimated cost, witli a live-stock encyclopaedia, and stock books would be £44. Mr Grant considered this a fair list, but he did not expect' the Association to go in for all of the hooks’ at. present.-—Mr Hammond would like to see the Association procure such a line library as Air Grant had submitted, but it was too big a matter to be settled off hand. It should be hold over until a- later meeting.—Other members supported the president.—Air A. Robinson favoured the procuring of the books at once.—Air A. Burnett moved that .£25 bo voted to provide a- nucleus of the libraiy and that Messrs Hammond, Sinclair, Burnett, Moore, Grant, Robinson and Hurst bo appointed a- committee to select standard works for the library.—Carried. THANKS.—Mrs Morton wrote thanking the Association for their kindness in erecting a monument to her late husband. DONATIONS.—Mr J. Carwardine wrote donating a £3 3s bracelet for . the best' lady driver and a £7 7s cup for the best Hereford bull.—Decided to thank Mr Carwardine for his fine donations. The secretary reported that the trophies had been received at the office. REPORTS.—The reports of (lie chief stewards were held over until next meeting.
