An application was made by the Wellington Hotel Workers’ Union yesterday to at.ach the Wellington chibs to the hotel workers’ award, with a view to getting a six-day week for club workers, die same as for hotel employees. There is, it appears, a dobut as to whether the Arbitration .Court can legally l.'hul clubs to any award; but, m the event of an adverse decision, the Union is taki ‘g steps to secure an amendment of the Act. The effect of tlu legislation proposed u that only chartered clubs ’shall be bound ’by tho awards, and that each club shall have the option of giving up its charter or running, its bar business. under the same labour conditions as tho licensed hotelkeepers are obliged to mu theirs.
